Donations

A little goes a long way in Nepal. As there are no office overheads, you can be sure that all of your money is going to the where you want it.

For example, monthly salaries are roughly:

Primary school teacher                                                             8200 Rs(about £75)

Lower secondary school teacher                                            10,000 Rs(about £90)

Up to Class 10 (graduate) teacher                                          12,000 Rs(about £110)

Auxilary Nurse/Midwife                                                                9,000 Rs(about £82)

Exercise book                                                                               10-15p each

Pen                                                                                                 2-3p each

School course book                                                                    50p - £1.50 each

Story book (library)                                                                        50p - £2 etc

* (assuming a rate of exchange 120Rs to the £.  Salaries are paid 13 months a year, with a Dashain bonus in October of one month's salary.  Salaries paid to teachers sponsored by RAN are paid in accordance to government salary rates)
